On 21st January 2025, St. Mary’s Central School organized a Traffic Rules Awareness Program to educate students and the local community about road safety and responsible behavior on the roads. The event featured two esteemed guests: Mr. Shridhar K. Mallad, Officer of RTO Mangalore, and Mr. K.M. Sharif, Inspector of Traffic Police, Baikampady, Mangalore North.
The program commenced with a warm welcome to the guests, followed by an address from the school principal, who highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of road safety from a young age.
Both guests delivered insightful speeches, emphasizing the significance of following traffic rules, wearing helmets and seatbelts, and avoiding practices such as over speeding and using mobile phones while driving. They also encouraged students to act as ambassadors of road safety within their families and communities.
Our Principal Rev. Fr Lancy Joel Saldanha also spoke about the importance of traffic rules and why everyone should follow it in their day-to-day life.
As part of the event, a street play on traffic rules was performed by the students at the Kinnigoli bus stand. The performance creatively illustrated common traffic violations, the risks associated with them, and the importance of adhering to safety measures. The play drew the attention of passersby and received immense appreciation for its impactful message.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge by students and staff to follow and promote traffic rules. The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who participated.
