The much-awaited Annual Sports Day of St. Mary’s Central School was held with great enthusiasm on 23rd November 2024, at the school ground. The event witnessed the active participation of students, teachers, parents, and esteemed guests, making it a grand celebration of sportsmanship and unity.
Programme Highlights
The day began with a welcome ceremony, where the guests were greeted by the school band, setting an energetic tone for the event. Students and staff proudly participated in a disciplined march past, showcasing their team spirit and coordination.
Following this, the event commenced with a prayer, seeking blessings for a successful day. The welcome speech was delivered by the school principal, extending gratitude to all present.
The school flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest, Mr. Roger M. Pinto, marking the formal beginning of the day. The event was inaugurated in a spectacular manner with the release of pigeons, symbolizing peace and harmony. This was followed by the lighting of the torch, a tradition that signifies the spirit of sportsmanship.
The students took a solemn oath, pledging to uphold the values of integrity and fair play in sports.
Guest Speeches
Mr. Roger M. Pinto, the Chief Guest, inspired the students with his motivational speech, emphasizing the importance of sports in building character and discipline. Rev. Fr. Joachim Fernandes, the President of the programme, shared insightful words on the value of physical fitness and teamwork in achieving success in life. The presence of distinguished guests, Mr. Stany Pinto and Mrs. Divya Pinto, added to the charm of the event.
